As part of the ongoing True Sport commitment to strengthening the capability of sport across Western Australia, SportWest, in partnership with the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport (CITS) and in collaboration with Sport Integrity Australia (SIA) and the National Sports Tribunal (NST), has established the Dispute Resolution Initiative.
The Initiative has been developed to support sporting organisations to better navigate disputes and complaints by providing access to trusted, qualified and independent dispute resolution support. It is designed to complement, rather than replace, the existing systems and processes of sporting organisations.
A key component of the Initiative is the True Sport Preferred Provider List, which provides sporting organisations with access to vetted mediators, investigators and dispute resolution practitioners who can assist with matters including governance issues, conflicts of interest, internal grievances, complaints and broader disputes that may benefit from independent support.
The Initiative aims to make it easier for sporting organisations to identify appropriate support when navigating complex or challenging matters, while strengthening the sector's overall capability to manage disputes fairly, respectfully and effectively.
