On 2nd December 2025, SportWest and the True Sport team proudly participated in the WA Integrity Network Forum, an event dedicated to strengthening integrity across Western Australian sport. The forum brought together leaders from across the sector to share insights, best practices, and strategies for creating safe, inclusive sporting environments.
True Sport Mental Health and Wellbeing Initiative
A key highlight was the presentation on the True Sport Mental Health and Wellbeing Initiative - a program designed to help the WA sporting community prioritise mental health and wellbeing at every level. Through this initiative, SportWest provides a suite of resources, tools, and support services, including the Employee and Volunteer Assistance Program, practical guides, wellbeing check-ins, and referral pathways. These supports are available to help clubs, coaches, and volunteers foster environments where everyone can thrive.
SportWest also provided an update on its work in integrity, including the development of dispute resolution and mediation services, aimed at supporting fair and transparent processes within the sporting sector.
Forum Themes and Key Learnings
The forum focused on child safeguarding and safe environments in sport, featuring case studies from Football West and Basketball WA, which shared key observations and learnings from recent experiences. Attendees also engaged in interactive sessions and networking opportunities, reinforcing the importance of collaboration and knowledge-sharing.
Collaboration for a Safer Sporting Future
The event underscored the strength of partnership between SportWest, the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport, and Sport Integrity Australia. Together, these organisations are committed to building a safer, fairer, and more inclusive sporting environment across Western Australia.
A big thank you to all presenters and participants for their contributions and commitment to driving positive change in sport.
