SportWest’s True Sport team was proud to participate in Sport Integrity Australia’s 2026 National Integrity Manager Network Forum, joining integrity leaders and practitioners from across Australia, alongside representatives from Western Australian State Sporting Associations, to strengthen collaboration, share insights and explore emerging challenges and opportunities in sport integrity.
As part of the forum, SportWest, CEO Troy Kirkham contributed to the Connecting the System panel discussion, alongside representatives from the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport, Sport Integrity Australia, WAIS and Swimming WA. The panel explored how organisations can work together more effectively to strengthen referral pathways, clarify roles and responsibilities, and enhance support for sporting organisations navigating integrity-related matters.
A key highlight of the forum was a wellbeing session facilitated by renowned registered Psychologist, Kellie Lewis from The Mental Health Project titled Supporting the Supporters: Sustaining Wellbeing in Integrity Roles. Designed specifically for experienced integrity practitioners, the session recognised the unique demands of integrity work and provided practical strategies that participants could apply immediately in their day-to-day roles.
Drawing on themes including recognising the impact of emotionally demanding work, establishing healthy professional boundaries, strengthening peer support networks and implementing everyday wellbeing practices, the session encouraged attendees to prioritise their own wellbeing while continuing to support others. Participants also explored wellbeing through a cultural lens, incorporating reflective and connection-based approaches to building resilience and sustaining long-term effectiveness in integrity roles.
Jasmine Cappellucci, True Sport Manager at SportWest, said the forum highlighted the value of investing not only in strong integrity systems, but also in the people responsible for delivering them.
“Integrity work can be both rewarding and demanding, which is why supporting the wellbeing of those in these roles is so important. The forum provided a valuable opportunity to connect with colleagues from across Australia, including our State Sporting Associations here in Western Australia, share experiences and explore practical approaches that strengthen both individual wellbeing and the broader integrity ecosystem. We all have a role to play in creating sporting environments that are safe, fair and inclusive.”
The forum provided a valuable opportunity for SportWest to connect with National and State Integrity Managers, representatives from Western Australian State Sporting Associations, and key sector stakeholders. These discussions enabled the sharing of Western Australian perspectives while contributing to broader conversations around safeguarding, member wellbeing and the continuous improvement of integrity systems across Australian sport.
Through initiatives such as True Sport and its broader advocacy work, SportWest remains committed to fostering safe, fair and inclusive sporting environments for all participants.
