SportWest Partners with SIA and CITS to Champion Integrity in WA

SportWest proudly partnered with Sport Integrity Australia (SIA) and the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport (CITS) to assist in delivering the Managing Integrity in Sport Course, held on September 16 – 17, 2025. This two-day event brought together leading experts and practitioners to address critical issues in safeguarding, mental health, and dispute resolution within the sporting community.

Over the course was designed to equip sport administrators, coaches, officials and volunteers with the tools and knowledge to uphold integrity across all levels of sport. The agenda featured a comprehensive lineup of sessions led by specialists from SIA, CITS, SportWest and the broader sport and health sectors.

Day 1: Safeguarding and Member Protection

The first day focused on the National Integrity Framework (NIF), child safeguarding policies, and understanding grooming behaviours. Highlights included:

  • Child Safeguarding Policy presented by Mat Sinclair (A/g Director Safeguarding, SIA)
  • A deep dive into Understanding Grooming and Intervention with Dr Karla Lopez, Senior Forensic Psychologist
  • Member Protection Policy session to close the day with Steve Wyatt, SIA

Day 2: Mental Health and Dispute Resolution
