As WA Children’s Week wraps up this Sunday, 27 October 2024, SportWest encourages all sporting organisations and clubs to look forward and reflect on how they can continue to create cleaner, safer, and more inclusive environments for children - both now and into the future.
This week has been a time to celebrate the progress made across the sport and recreation industry in Western Australia in building safe spaces for children. But the journey doesn’t end here. Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children in sport is a shared responsibility, and continuous improvement is key.
Together with the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries and Sport Integrity Australia, SportWest remains committed to supporting our members in embedding child safe practices across all levels of sport.
“The significant part of this partnership is the shared intent with the industry, to see every child and young person, no matter how they participate, experience a safe and welcoming environment across their time in sport. No door is the wrong door, and all three organisations work closely together to support the WA sporting sector.” Troy Kirkham, Chief Executive Officer, SportWest
