SportWest is pleased to invite WA State Sporting Associations to attend the True Sport Child Safeguarding Forum, taking place on Thursday, 2 November 2023 at the Royal Perth Golf Club.
In partnership with the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, this important event will provide a platform for sporting organisations across Western Australia to hear the latest updates and requirements around child safety in sport. Attendees will gain insights into how to comply with the West Australian Working with Children legislation and have the opportunity to meet members of the SportWest Child Safeguarding in Sport Advisory Group.
Launching New Resources to Support Safe Sport in WA
A key highlight of the forum will be the official launch of the newly developed True Sport Child Safeguarding resources. These resources will form part of our new True Sport Child Safeguarding Initiative and are designed to support State Sporting Associations in creating and maintaining safe environments for children and young people, aligned with the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations.
This marks the initial phase of a broader initiative aimed at embedding child safety into the culture of sport in Western Australia.

The forum follows Children’s Week (21 - 29 October 2023), providing a timely opportunity to elevate conversations around the importance of keeping children and young people safe in sport across WA.
