RugbyWA are living the True Sport ethos and SportWest's position on poor sideline behaviour in sport in WA. RugbyWA are launching a new “Said No One Ever” campaign centred around rugby being a game for everyone — a sport where players, coaches, referees, and spectators alike feel safe, respected, and supported.
This powerful awareness campaign aims to address poor sideline behaviour in rugby, tapping into emotion to spark real and lasting cultural change across the rugby community.
Their message is simple but vital: create a fair, safe, and positive environment for everyone involved in our sport.
Using bold, thought-provoking phrases like “said no kid ever,” “said no referee ever,” and “said no coach ever,” the campaign highlights the unseen impact negative sideline behaviour can have on the people who make the game of rugby great. It also reinforces the values that lie at the heart of rugby: respect, support, and mental wellbeing.
To help spread this message, RugbyWA, in partnership with SportWest, will be distributing campaign posters to clubs throughout Western Australia — clear, visible reminders of the standards RugbyWA expect and the culture they want to build together with their clubs. Digital versions will also be available via their website portal, so clubs can print additional copies as needed.
True Sport Manager, Jasmine Cappellucci said "It is fantastic to see RugbyWA embedding the principles of True Sport and proactively increasing awareness of the impact of poor behaviour in sporting environments. SportWest is delighted to collaborate with RugbyWA to support this campaign and stand together to stamp out poor sideline behaviour. Everyone has the right to feel safe and comfortable playing their role in the sport they love and campaigns such as these are important in promoting positive behaviours in Western Australian sport."
