SportWest's True Sport team was proud to participate in the 2026 Netball WA Leadership Forum on Saturday, 17th October 2026, engaging with more than 100 netball leaders from across Western Australia, including regional and remote communities, through an activation and information booth at the event expo.
The forum brought together Association Presidents, Umpire Development Officers, Player and Coach Development Officers, and Netball WA regional staff to share knowledge, strengthen leadership capability and discuss priorities for the future of netball across the state.
As part of the networking and expo session, the True Sport team hosted an activation area where attendees had the opportunity to learn more about the wide range of safeguarding, integrity, mental health and wellbeing and respectful relationships and dispute resolution initiatives available to sporting organisations through the True Sport program.
The activation also showcased Best On Road, Western Australia's sport road safety initiative, in partnership with the Road Safety Commission, providing practical information, resources and conversations around promoting safer travel behaviours for players, volunteers, officials and families travelling to and from sport.
Throughout the afternoon, the team connected with association representatives from metropolitan and regional Western Australia, discussing challenges, opportunities and practical ways to strengthen safe, welcoming and inclusive sporting environments.
Jasmine Cappellucci, True Sport Manager at SportWest, said the forum provided an important opportunity to engage directly with grassroots sport leaders and share resources that support safer and stronger sporting communities.
"The Netball WA Leadership Forum provided a valuable opportunity to connect with dedicated netball leaders, volunteers and administrators from across Western Australia. Events such as this are instrumental in fostering collaboration, sharing knowledge and supporting the ongoing development of safe, inclusive and well-governed sporting environments. It was particularly encouraging to engage with representatives from associations throughout metropolitan and regional Western Australia and increase awareness of the comprehensive education, resources and support available through True Sport.
Our True Sport and Best On Road activation enabled meaningful discussions around safeguarding, integrity, wellbeing and safety, and the important role sporting organisations play in creating environments where all participants feel safe, respected, supported and valued, both on and off the court."
The forum provided a valuable opportunity to build relationships across the netball community and raise awareness of the practical tools, resources and support available through True Sport to assist clubs and associations in enhancing participant wellbeing, integrity and safety.
SportWest thanks Netball WA for the opportunity to be involved and looks forward to continuing to work alongside the netball community to strengthen safe, inclusive and thriving sporting environments throughout Western Australia.
