True Sport has officially relaunched its Sideline Behaviour Initiative, in partnership with the WA Government, providing sporting organisations, clubs and communities with new resources to help promote positive, respectful and inclusive sporting environments across Western Australia.
The refreshed initiative centres on a simple but powerful message: “Your Behaviour is Always in Play.”
Whether standing on the sideline, coaching from the bench, volunteering behind the scenes or officiating a match, every person contributes to the culture and experience of sport. The campaign encourages everyone involved in sport to reflect on the role they play in creating environments where participants, officials, volunteers and spectators feel respected and supported.
To support the sector in sharing this message, True Sport has developed a suite of updated resources that organisations can use across their communications and community engagement activities.
The new resource collection includes:
- A new 30-second campaign hero video
- A campaign e-toolkit
- Editable social media tiles and promotional assets
- Editable email signatures
- Campaign posters for clubs and sporting venues
- A new Club Respect resource supporting positive interactions with match officials
- Access to Evolve WA resources and de-escalation workshops
- Case studies showcasing initiatives implemented by State Sporting Associations
The initiative recognises that sideline behaviour can have a significant impact on participation, retention and the overall enjoyment of sport. Positive sporting experiences help foster welcoming and inclusive environments where people feel encouraged to stay involved, contribute and thrive.
True Sport Manager Jasmine Cappellucci said the refreshed campaign aims to provide practical tools that help sporting organisations continue building positive cultures throughout their communities.
"Sport has the power to bring people together, create positive experiences and build strong communities. The Sideline Behaviour Initiative encourages all of us to reflect on the role we play in shaping those experiences. Every interaction matters, and every person has a part to play in creating a positive sporting environment."
The addition of practical resources, real-world case studies and de-escalation support reflects a growing commitment across the sector to proactively address behaviours that can negatively impact sporting experiences.
Importantly, the campaign is not solely focused on preventing poor behaviour. Instead, it seeks to celebrate and reinforce the behaviours that make sport enjoyable, welcoming and rewarding for everyone involved.
