Club leaders attend Club Respect workshop to strengthen sideline culture

On Thursday 12 March, SportWest welcomed club committee members and administrators from across Western Australia to a Club Respect Workshop, delivered as part of the True Sport Sideline Behaviour Initiative.

The session brought together club leaders to explore practical strategies for strengthening respectful culture within their organisations and supporting positive behaviour across the club environment.

Delivered by Tarik Bayrakli, Manager – Club Respect, the workshop introduced participants to the Club Respect A.W.E.S.O.M.E. Framework (“The Game Plan”), which provides a structured approach for clubs to define their values, set clear behavioural expectations and respond effectively to challenges that arise across the sporting environment.

Throughout the evening, attendees worked through practical examples and discussions focused on creating positive and respectful club environments — from the committee room through to coaches, players, volunteers and spectators on the sidelines.

By equipping club leaders with practical tools and resources, the workshop aims to support clubs to proactively strengthen culture and set clear expectations as winter competitions approach.

SportWest extends its thanks to Club Respect and Tarik Bayrakli for facilitating the session and supporting the ongoing work to create safe, positive and respectful sporting environments across Western Australia.
