State Sporting Associations attend Club Respect workshop as part of True Sport Sideline Behaviour Initiative

Group of participants in the workshop.

On Tuesday 10 March, SportWest welcomed staff from a range of State Sporting Associations to SportHQ for a Club Respect Workshop, delivered as part of the True Sport Sideline Behaviour Initiative.

The session brought together leaders from across the sector to explore practical strategies for strengthening respectful culture across community sport and supporting clubs to manage sideline behaviour.

Delivered by Tarik Bayrakli, Manager – Club Respect, the workshop introduced participants to the Club Respect A.W.E.S.O.M.E. Framework (“The Game Plan”), which provides a structured approach for clubs to define their values, set behavioural expectations, and respond effectively to challenges that arise across the club environment.

Throughout the session, participants worked through practical examples and discussion activities focused on building respectful sporting environments — from the committee room through to coaches, players and spectators on the sidelines.

By equipping State Sporting Association leaders with practical tools and resources, the workshop aims to strengthen the support organisations can provide to their affiliated clubs as they head into the winter competition season.

SportWest extends its thanks to Club Respect and Tarik Bayrakli for facilitating the session and supporting the ongoing work to create safe, positive and respectful sporting environments across Western Australia.
