SportWest Showcases Club Support Programs at City of Stirling Mayoral Sports Club Breakfast

SportWest was proud to be part of the City of Stirling's 2026 Mayoral Sports Club Breakfast on Thursday, 6 August, joining a strong network of community organisations dedicated to strengthening the local sporting landscape.

The annual event brought together sporting club representatives, volunteers, coaches, administrators, community leaders, and key stakeholders from across the City of Stirling for a morning focused on connection, collaboration, and the future of community sport.

Held at the City of Stirling Reception Hall, attendees heard from Australian Football Hall of Fame legend John Worsfold, whose keynote presentation explored leadership, resilience, and the important role sport plays in building strong communities. A panel discussion followed, highlighting opportunities and challenges facing grassroots sport and the importance of creating welcoming, sustainable sporting environments.

As part of the event's exhibitor showcase, SportWest highlighted two key programs available to support local clubs and volunteers: True Sport and Best on Road.

The True Sport exhibition featured a range of resources, educational tools, posters, and practical guidance designed to support sporting clubs in creating safe, inclusive, and positive environments. Attendees had the opportunity to explore information on safeguarding, integrity, member wellbeing, and good governance, while engaging with SportWest staff to learn about the support available to help strengthen club culture and enhance the sporting experience for all participants.

Alongside True Sport, SportWest also highlighted the Best on Road program, an initiative delivered in partnership with the Road Safety Commission that uses the reach and influence of sport to promote safer road use across Western Australia. The program supports sporting organisations with resources, education, and funding to deliver road safety initiatives, while also developing athletes and club leaders as road safety ambassadors through the Captains Club. By recognising individuals and organisations that champion positive road safety behaviours, Best on Road aims to increase awareness, drive behaviour change, and strengthen community wellbeing both on and off the field.

Throughout the morning, the SportWest team engaged with club representatives eager to learn more about the services, resources, and support available to strengthen their organisations and enhance member experiences.

Events such as the Mayoral Sports Club Breakfast provide a valuable opportunity to connect directly with clubs, understand their needs, and share practical solutions that contribute to stronger, safer, and more sustainable sporting communities.

SportWest extends its thanks to the City of Stirling for hosting another successful event and for its ongoing commitment to supporting grassroots sport and recreation across the region.

We look forward to continuing to work alongside local governments, sporting clubs, volunteers, and community leaders to help ensure sport remains safe, inclusive, and accessible for all Western Australians.
