Last week, our True Sport staff had the opportunity to attend and present at the second workshop in Starick’s Respectful Relationships Sport and Recreation Program. This program is an evidence-based initiative designed to foster respect, equality, and inclusion across sport and recreation.
We were proud to share the work SportWest and True Sport are doing to promote respectful relationships in sport, and to learn from the inspiring efforts of Crash the Boards in Victoria. The workshop offered a valuable opportunity to reflect, collaborate, and learn from organisations that have already implemented the program, showcasing real-world examples of cultural change in action.
Sport is deeply woven into the fabric of Australian life, and with that influence comes responsibility. The Respectful Relationships Sport and Recreation Program recognises the power of sport to lead positive cultural change, and supports organisations in building safer, more inclusive environments that actively work to prevent gender-based and family violence.
Thank you to Starick, the Department of Communities WA, and the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport for supporting this important work, and to all the participants for your insights and commitment to change.
