Coaches play a critical role in shaping not only athletic performance, but also the overall sporting experience of children and young people.
To support safer, more positive and enjoyable sporting environments, the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport, in collaboration with Sport Integrity Australia, is delivering the "Safeguarding for Healthy Participant Experiences" workshop on Saturday 17 October from 10:30am to 12:30pm.
This practical and engaging session is designed for coaches, support staff and anyone involved in the day-to-day training environments of community clubs, regional sporting organisations and state sporting associations. The workshop will also be available online for participants located in regional Western Australia.
Participants will explore how they can positively influence the experiences of children and young people through their coaching practices and interactions within sport. Key topics will include:
- Creating safe and supportive environments for children and young people
- Building healthy relationships between coaches, parents and athletes
- Promoting positive sporting experiences that support participation, development and wellbeing
The workshop forms part of a broader series of initiatives designed to strengthen safeguarding practices across the Western Australian sporting sector and ensure sport remains a safe, welcoming and positive environment for all participants.
Whether you are an experienced coach, a volunteer support person or new to sport leadership, this workshop will provide practical tools and insights to help foster healthier sporting experiences within your club or organisation.
