Upcoming Event: Safeguarding 101 for Sporting Clubs

Community sporting clubs play a vital role in creating safe, inclusive and positive environments for children and young people. To support this important responsibility, True Sport, in partnership with Sport Integrity Australia, SportWest and the WA Government, is delivering Safeguarding 101 for Sporting Clubs in August 2026.

This free introductory workshop is designed for club committee members, volunteers, coaches, team managers, officials and administrators who want to strengthen their understanding of safeguarding in sport. Participants will learn the key principles of child safeguarding, how to recognise and respond to concerns, and the steps required to report issues involving children and young people appropriately. The session will also explore practical actions clubs can take to create and maintain child-safe sporting environments.

Attendees will gain valuable insights into their legal and ethical responsibilities, safeguarding policies and procedures, and the important role every club member plays in protecting children and young people involved in sport. Whether your club is just beginning its safeguarding journey or looking to strengthen existing practices, this session will provide practical guidance and resources to help build a safer sporting culture.
